i have arrived!

mom took me to the airport this (really yesterday) afternoon. my bags were too heavy, so she ended up taking things home will her. i boarded the plane without a problem, watched and movie, ate pasta, and slept until arriving in ROME! the girl sitting next to me on the plane is in the Temple program also, so i wasn't alone through customs and everything. we took a van to the residence where we signed in and got keys to our apartments! as of now, my roommates have not yet shown up, but i think there will be two of them. the apartment is very small, but the kitchen/living room/dining room is very nice. the bedroom is probably close to the size of griffin's room at home. it has a single bed and bunk beds, a dresser and some night stands. needless to say, there is pretty much no room to function. i think some reorganizing will be necessary. the internet is great in the apartment...i am  very relieved (now we can video chat all the time!) there is a pizza party tonight to start off orientation, so i may go to that. i haven't unpacked or anything yet. i wanted to wait until the furniture situation is worked out. okay, i am exhausted, i am going to go nap.

So glad that you made it in safely. How great to have somebody in the same program not just on the plane but sitting right next to you. What school was she from? I look forward to reading your comments and observations as this adventure continues... be safe and be smart. I hope in the future that you will be able to post some pictures as well. I love you!!! ah, stephanie, don't worry about the map. get a vespa, big sunglasses, and a cute italian guide. you'll save time, look chic, and learn italian. smile mysteriously. tourist's never smile mysteriously.
