back on schedule

okay. look at me catching up! i got back to rome via plane from brussels, which was our layover from a train ride from amsterdam, around 8 pm. that put me back in my apartment by 9. i unpacked and went to bed. monday morning started the routine of classes once again. italian was difficult because i wasn't used to speaking it (i usually have italian class every day). then my business classes were also more laid-back. patania handed us back our midterms, including the finance one i was convinced i failed. i was amazing to find out that i got a B on my finance midterm and an A- in econ. i was thrilled! not only was the day a nice transition back from break, but i also did well in my hardest classes! okay, so that was the exciting part of the day. other than that, i went grocery shopping, uploaded some pictures and planned out some of samm's upcoming trip to italy!
this morning i slept in (because i don't have class until 2). it was a gorgeous day outside. i am so happy that spring is finally arriving (even though it is supposed to rain all weekend). i walked home from school today, which i admit i have not done for too long. i need to start doing that all the time...it is a beautiful walk. i took some pictures on the way home that i will have to post...to introduce you to my neighborhood!
oh i forgot that i had wanted to reflect on my heritage! after traveling to italy, spain, prague...basically all over europe (!), i feel i can safely say i have very little italian in my dna. i feel i look more like a lot of the people i saw in barcelona than those people in rome. that is just my personal opinion, but i think it is a little reasonable, yes?
i think that is all for now. i am getting really excited for samm to come! i am picking her up at the airport at like 8:30 am on thursday, which means i have to wake up really early to take the metro to catch a 30-minute train to the airport (because i know i would be stressed if i had to do that alone). then we will take the train back, drop off her bag at my apartment, check into our hotel by the vatican. i'm figuring we will see how she feels then...possibly do a little sight-seeing. i have class 2-4:30, so she can definitely sleep then. we will probably go on a day trip on friday and then head to tuscany (florence) on saturday-sunday. i think it will be a really fun time...i'm so excited!
also, one last thing, i know daylight savings is ending this sunday in the states. i found out today though that the same does not hold true for italy. apparently we do not set our clocks forward until march 30. isn't that weird?! so for like 3 weeks, i will only be 5 hours ahead, instead of the usual 6. COOL!
okay now for real that is all.
