Finally! i am back

i cannot believe two weeks of classes has passed already. i like my schedule now a lot. i ended up switching into the italian history class on tuesdays and thursdays. soo on everyday except thursdays i don't have to be in class until 2. unfortunately, i have not taken advantage of that huge window of time to explore rome. my goal for next week is to get out more.  my business classes are challenging, but the teacher, no matter how hard he tries to come off as a jerk, really cares about us learning. he is probably one of the best professors i have ever had, and luckily i have him for both international finance and international trade. those classes are going to be tough from the homework to the quizzes and tests, but i think i will really benefit from actually knowing the information. in the italian history class all we did this week was watch a movie about martin luther. i think that class might be easy! there is a 10-page term paper, but i don't think it will be too tough. i had my first italian language quiz today. i feel like i am learning a lot of helpful phrases. at first i really just wanted to learn vocab, but the professor is slowly integrating in more words so we get everything. we learn by repetition, not memorization and relating to the english language (if that makes sense). i know my brain automatically relates words that i know in english and some spanish, but i feel like i am actually learning italian and not memorizing it. i think i did well on the quiz, which is good! my digital photography class has been good. it's not what i expected...i thought we would be working with photoshop on the computer and more literally digital imaging. i say it's good because i am actually learning how to manually take photos without wasting tons of film on severely over- and under-exposed photos! i am so glad i have my nikon...it makes life a lot easier in that class, and i completely plan on using it all the time! we went to the colosseum today for digital imaging to practice depth of field. i think i get it...and i am so excited to finally understand the ins and outs of capturing photos! i love the colosseum...i know i have said that before, but it is awesome!
i didn't go out tonight because i wanted to catch up on sleep (which isn't going to happen) and explore more tomorrow. we will see what happens. the vatican museum is free on sunday (fun fact: museums here are free the last sunday of every month), so i think i will suck up the idea of being around a ton of people and check it out FINALLY.
as for fun time outside of roma.....venice is next weekend for carnivale, which i am soo excited for. we are leaving on friday and coming home saturday i think. we didn't want to spend too much on hostels because the flight was so expensive (due to price/demand logistics (thank you econ)). the next weekend julie and i are going to prague! i am even more excited about that because that is the one place i have heard i had to visit. i have a finance class trip to london at the end of march. and we finally booked hostels and flights for spring break (all of which cost $500 USD!) i think that is incredible. rachel, julie, alison, meagan and i are going rome to barcelona to paris to amsterdam. we are staying 2 full days in each. i am excited for that too! except that temple has planned midterm week to be right before spring break, so we have to stress out before having fun!
thats about all i have for now. this weekend should be fun. i miss everyone a lot, but the internet is magical and i feel like i am staying in touch moderately well with the fam. i am finally exhausted (my sleeping schedule here has been horrible)...i am celebrating being tired at 12:30! okay so i will try to post more (with classes on their way and my history of extensive procrastination, that should be easy), but for now i must sleep!!
